Collin County is north of the Dallas-Fort Worth area but a small portion of the city of Dallas is in the county. Collin County is bordered by Hunt County to the east, Grayson County to the north, Fannin County to the northeast, Denton County to the west, Dallas County to the south, and Rockwall County to the southeast. The county has a total area of 886 square miles. Collin County is 56.47 percent non-Hispanic whites, 9.56 percent Black, 17.31 percent other non-Hispanic, and 15.19 percent Hispanics and Latinos of any race.
The county seat of Collin County in McKinney, which is about 40 minutes from Dallas and about one hour from Fort Worth. He later became a member of the committee that drafted the Constitution of the Republic of Texas and also served as a delegate from Red River District and County, Texas, to the First, Second, and Fourth Congresses of the Republic of Texas.
